Strengthening our Teen's Connection to Judaism

When our students enter their senior year of high school, it is an important time for our teens to stay connected to synagogue life and Jewish learning as they strengthen their relationship with the Rabbi, and prepare for the next phase of their lives. This is the reason why we've moved Confirmation from the traditional 10th grade to 12th grade.

Under the Rabbi's tutelage, our seniors in high school will learn:

  • Antisemitism and anti-Israel bias that they may encounter in college or a work environment. We will help prepare our students to discuss Israel from a place of knowledge and understanding, and cement a connection to Israel's importance to the Jewish people.
  • Zionism and the creation of Israel, with a thorough understanding of the nuances of the major issues Israel faces today.
  • How best to engage in Jewish life on campus and how to navigate college as a Jewish student (speakers are often invited for first-hand perspectives).

Confirmation students will prepare and lead a Confirmation Shabbat service scheduled in March. We devote several sessions to learning about Jewish prayer, its meaning, and how our students relate to prayer.

Confirmation class is held for 14-16 weeks on Wednesday evenings from 6:00-8:00pm (including dinner) from December through March. The dates of the Confirmation program are based on the busy calendar of high school seniors.
